Building an app for your business

We need an app for our customers or our crews. What will it cost?

A business app we build starts from $35,000 for one codebase: a shared React Native app for iPhone and Android, or a native app for iPhone or for Android. If you don't have requirements and designs yet, start with Discovery, from $16,000, where we agree the scope and design the app before any code is written. Either way you get a fixed price against approved designs, so anything added later is visibly extra.

For established businesses whose customers or crews will depend on the app.Builds from $35,000 for one codebase.

Who this is for

This is for you if

  • Your customers need an app to order, book, pay or track their account.
  • Your crews, drivers or field staff need an app that replaces paper, spreadsheets or a tool they have outgrown.
  • You want one senior team responsible for the app, from design to the App Store and Google Play.

This is not for you if

  • You need a standalone website with no app behind it.
  • You need an app built for less than $35,000.
  • You want a copy of a well-known consumer app on a startup budget.

What Apple and Google require of every new business app

Each fact links to the platform that set the rule. These rules change every year, so this block is reviewed and expires on its own.

Apple: current tools for every update

Since April 28, 2026, every update sent to the App Store has to be built with Xcode 26 and the iOS 26 SDK.

Google Play: a newer Android target

Since August 31, 2026, every new app and update has to target Android 16 (API level 36). The last extension ended on November 1, 2026.

Account deletion, in both stores

If people can create an account in the app, Apple requires a way to start deleting it inside the app, and Google Play requires an in-app path and a web link.

Privacy paperwork

Every app on Google Play must complete the Data safety form, even one that collects no data. Apple requires approved reasons for certain privacy-sensitive features, including in third-party code.

What to do first

  1. Write down who will use the app and the three jobs it must do for them.

Customers and crews need different apps. Start with the jobs, not the features.

  2. Decide whether you need iPhone, Android or both.

Most business apps need both. A shared React Native app covers both with one codebase.

  3. List the systems the app has to talk to.

Your ordering, scheduling, billing or customer records. A real backend is a bigger job than a few screens.

  4. Decide who designs it, and how settled the requirements are.

If both are ready, you can skip Discovery and go straight to the build.

  5. Set up the App Store and Google Play accounts in your company's name.

Not a developer's or an agency's. It saves a hard conversation later.

  6. Plan who looks after the app once it ships.

Apple and Google change their rules every year, so an app nobody maintains stops being updatable.

What it costs

Builds start from $35,000.

For one codebase: a shared React Native app for iPhone and Android, or a native app for iPhone or for Android. A second codebase is priced in the proposal. Discovery, from $16,000, is optional and paid on its own; skip it if you already have requirements and designs. What moves the price: who designs, how settled the requirements are, whether the app needs its own backend, sign-in options, in-app subscriptions, testing and documentation, and how fast you need it. After launch, maintenance starts at $10,000 a month with a three-month minimum. Prices are for remote work. On-site work is quoted separately and priced higher.

How a build works

What a $35,000 starting price is sized for

One codebase

A shared React Native app for iPhone and Android, or a native app for one platform.

A fixed price against approved designs

Changes after approval are quoted before any work starts, so extras are visibly extra.

Testing on real, current devices

Including foldables, in every build.

Store accounts in your company's name

The App Store and Google Play accounts and the signing keys are set up under your company.

Case study

A rewards app for iPhone and Android

We built the automatic check-in feature for a rewards app and rebuilt the admin portal its team uses to test releases. From kickoff to its first stable App Store and Google Play release took 4 weeks.

Common questions

How much does it cost to build an app for my business?

Our builds start from $35,000 for one codebase. If you need requirements and designs first, Discovery starts from $16,000 and is paid on its own. The final price is fixed against approved designs.

Should we build in React Native, Swift or Kotlin?

For most business apps, React Native: one shared codebase for iPhone and Android. Native Swift fits an iPhone-only app or one that leans hard on Apple features; native Kotlin fits an Android-only app, such as one for company devices.

Do we need Discovery?

Only if you don't have settled requirements and designs. Discovery turns your idea into an approved scope and approved designs, so the build can be held to a fixed price.

What should we look for in an enterprise mobile app development company in the USA?

Senior people who will own the app, a fixed price against approved designs, testing on real devices, and store accounts set up in your company's name. CAM Software is a US company and works remotely.

What happens after the app launches?

Apple and Google change their rules every year, so the app needs looking after. Maintenance starts at $10,000 a month with a three-month minimum.
